Left Field Cards

2011-2015

A few years after moving to the US I became obsessed with baseball. I didn't know anything about it growing up in France, except that it was very much America to me. I went to a game one night with some friends, then started reading the sports pages in the paper and watching games at bars (I didn't own a TV, plus I liked socializing with other fans as a way to learn more about the game). I quickly became obsessed. I started Left Field Cards after one night my now-husband brought home a box of old baseball cards.

Series One to Five, complete box set

Each series of 10 players has a different theme: Bizarre Injuries, Edible All-Stars, Marvelous Moustaches, United States of Baseball and Curious Second Careers. All cards were hand carved onto linoleum blocks and printed by hand on a letterpress. I also created some larger prints and some shirts.

The shop is now closed but contact me if you'd like to know what I might still have in stock somewhere - you just never know.

Linoleum blocks

Original designs were carved onto linoleum blocks and printed first on a 100 year old Washington press, then on a slightly younger hand cranked Vandercook letterpress.
